Hi lovelies! I'm back from Belize and school started today. What a bummer! I had a great trip though. Here are a few of the highlights:
We spent the first few days in the South of Belize. Since I was actually in the country for a class, we had to spend the time interviewing people about human rights conditions in the country. It was still pretty and tropical as you can see, but this was not the really tourist-y part of the country.
We got to go to some smaller Mayan ruins one day called Nim Li Punit. The surroundings were clearly gorgeous and in the middle of the forest, but there were no huge temples or anything of that sort at these ruins.
I have a new favorite animal called the Coatimundi. I'm totally looking into having one as a pet.
We visited the University of Belize, which has a nice new bookstore.
Later in the week we got to take half a day and visit Xunantunich, which is the second largest Mayan temple in Belize. We climbed to the very top and towered over the trees! It was terrifying but the most gorgeous view.
And the last day we got to go in the morning on a boat out to the Cayes, which seems to be the most tourist-y and beautiful part of the country! It took about 50 minutes to get out there by boat and we we really only had time to have lunch there before heading back to Belize City for our flight. I'm so glad I got to see that area though! I'd love to go back ASAP.
Make sure you go to Belize if you have the chance! It is just awesome!
